Revelations Solo by Audioslave ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Revelations (solo) - Audioslave ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed by: Bas Email: [email protected] Tuning: DADGBe I hope you'll enjoy this tab, it's pretty fast but not impossible... have fun with it! SOLO All the parts of the solo are played with the toggle switch technique, Guitar 2 uses a phaser, the whammy pedal is used a lot too. The last way to play Part 2 of the solo (the way Morello plays it) is played with the phaser, whammy and delay. Part 1 There are some little differents in the patterns, but it wouldn't sound much different when playing one of the patterns with a harmonizer to harmonize the notes 1 oct. lower/ higher. Guitar 1 e|----------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|----------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|----------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|--------------------5-3--5-3-3--5-3--5-3-3--5-3--5-3-3--5-3--5-3-3-5-3-3-5-3| A|-5-5--5-5--3-5--5-5---------------------------------------------------------| D|----------------------------------------------------------------------------| [ note * ] e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|-5-3-3-5-3-5-3-5-3-3-3-----------------------------------------------------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| And Morello's playing style in the music video: e|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| A|-5-5--5-5--3-5--5-5-10-8--10-8-8--10-8--10-8-8--10-8--10-8-8-/17-15--17-15-15| D|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| A|-17-15-15-17-15-17-15-17-15-15-15------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| [note *: from here slowly press the whammy pedal down] Guitar 2 Guitar 2 uses a phaser effect, and I think the whammy pedal is used at some points, but could also be some funky tricks out of Morello's magic fingers ;) e|----------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|----------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------12-10--12-10-------12-10--12-10-------12-10-12-10| D|-12-12--12-12--12-12-10-12--------------12-12--------------12-12------------| A|----------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|----------------------------------------------------------------------------| [ note * ] e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|-------12-10--12-10-------12-10----12-10-12-10-12-10-12-10-----------------| D|-12-12--------------12-12-------12-------------------------12-12-----------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| [note *: from here slowly press the whammy pedal down] Part 2 The patterns in played in part 2 ar less similar to eachother than the patterns played in part 1. If you look at the Guitar 2 part, you see that it has this -12-12-12- notes played under the higher notes. I don't think this is one guitar playing both these lower and high notes at the same time, so it's probably another guitar overdubbing Guitar 2... The last option is probably how Morello plays the song in the video and on his own. If you play the solo, I'd recommend playing the last option. You could set your whammy pedal to harmonize 1 oct. higher and use the phaser to create more chaos :) anyway, good luck playing it. Guitar 1 (right channel) This is the easy way: e|---------14-------14-------------------------------------------------------| B|------15-------------15-------15--------------------------------------15---| G|---------------------------------14-------14-12--------12-14-------14------| D|12-12-------12-12-------12-12-------12-12--------12-12-------12-12---------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| e|---------------------14-------14-------------------------------------------| B|------15----------15-------------15-------15--------------15-------15------| G|---------14----------------------------------14--------14-------------14---| D|12-12-------12-12-------12-12-------12-12--------12-12-------12-12---------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|-10-12~~(hold it very long, repick it if you want)-------------------------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| Guitar 2 (left channel) (and still with phaser) e|------------------14-14----------------------------------------------------| B|------15-15-------------------15-15----------------------------------------| G|---------------------14-------------------14-14-------10-10-------14-14----| D|12-12-12----12-12-12----12-12-12----12-12-12----12-12-12----12-12-12-------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| e|------14-14--------------------------------------------------------14-14---| B|------------------15-15-------------------15-15----------------------------| G|------------------------------14-14--------------------14-14---------------| D|12-12-12----12-12-12----12-12-12----12-12-12-----12-12-12----12-12-12------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| A|-1///17--------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| [press your whammy slowly down together with the slide] I think the next and last way is the best way to play the second part of the solo, and it looks most like Morello's playing style in the music video too. This option is played in the 'Your Time Has Come' style. It has the same delay setting (to repeat every note you play after you stroke it). This means that you can play d-12 or A-17 instead of d-12-12 or A-17-17-. This is e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|------------19----------------------------19----------------------------19-| G|------19----------19----------19----------------19----------19-------------| D|------------------------19----------19----------------19----------19-------| A|17-17----17----17----17----17----17----17----17----17----17----17----17----| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|1////12--------------------------------------------------------------------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|(1////until your fingers can't feel any more wood from the fretboard ;)-)--| (The lower D-1//// slide is not necessary to play, but Morello does in the video) ===Delay Setting (Boss DD-3)=== E.Level: 10 (Max) Feedback (times of repeat): 1 (Min) Delay Time: Between 4 or 5 (between 10 and 11 minutes before 12 on a clock) Mode: Long 200->800 ms | / slide up | slide down | h hammer-on | p pull-off | ~ vibrato | + harmonic | x Mute note ===============================================================================
